The first wind turbine to be fitted with Siemens Gamesa’s RecyclableBlades is now producing power at RWE’s Kaskasi offshore wind power project in Germany.

The 342MW Kaskasi offshore wind project, located 35 km north of the island of Heligoland in the German North Sea, will comprise 38 of Siemens Gamesa’s 8.0-167 DD wind turbines.

(Tue, 02 Aug 2022) South Africa has a large, energy-intensive coal mining industry and mostly uses coal to meet its energy needs, given the country’s limited proved reserves of oil and natural gas. South Africa also has a sophisticated synthetic fuels industry, producing liquid fuels from its coal-to-liquids plant in Secunda and its natural gas-to-liquids plant in Mossel Bay.

A small group of coal, gas, and oil executives are putting together a plan for Texas’ energy future.

They have no website. They have had only one meeting since the Legislature created the group over a year ago — they made no public announcement of that meeting, and there was no livestream, recording or transcript.

The State Energy Plan Advisory Committee is charting Texas’ energy future out of public view and in the dark.

Green hydrogen’s versatility offers potential answers to some of the energy transition’s most challenging questions. When produced from renewable energy sources, hydrogen could provide clean fuel for shipping, long-duration energy storage, and other areas that are difficult to decarbonize.

But factors such as scale, scope, and affordability remain daunting challenges. Can green hydrogen conquer these obstacles to become the energy transition’s secret weapon?
