Community solar capacity in the U.S. is expected to continue its growth, increasing by 7 GWdc by 2027, according to an analysis from Wood Mackenzie.
Researchers working at the Energy Department’s Sandia National Laboratory said they developed a new type of rotary electrical contact that promises to end the need for rare earth magnets in wind turbines.
Sandia said it it ready to partner with the renewable energy industry to develop what is said would be the next generation of direct-drive wind turbines.
The first wind turbine to be fitted with Siemens Gamesa’s RecyclableBlades is now producing power at RWE’s Kaskasi offshore wind power project in Germany.
The 342MW Kaskasi offshore wind project, located 35 km north of the island of Heligoland in the German North Sea, will comprise 38 of Siemens Gamesa’s 8.0-167 DD wind turbines.

South Africa also has a sophisticated synthetic fuels industry, producing liquid fuels from its coal-to-liquids plant in Secunda and its natural gas-to-liquids plant in Mossel Bay.
A small group of coal, gas, and oil executives are putting together a plan for Texas’ energy future.
They have no website. They have had only one meeting since the Legislature created the group over a year ago — they made no public announcement of that meeting, and there was no livestream, recording or transcript.
