A pilot program in Massachusetts aims to help speed up the interconnection process for distributed generation projects by allowing developers to make some grid upgrades themselves.

Just months after it acquired clean power developer Urban Grid in a $650 million deal, Brookfield Renewable Partners said it paid $700 million for what it termed a “leading integrated distributed generation developer” in the U.S.
Energy storage company Fluence Energy said it partnered with a contract manufacturer to open a new manufacturing facility in Utah to serve regional delivery and address what it said are ongoing supply chain constraints.
Terabase Energy announced a $44 million Series B financing co-led by the Bill Gates platform Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Prelude Ventures with additional participation by SJF Ventures and other existing investors.
The round brings Terabase’s funding to $52 million and is expected to be used to further develop the company’s digital and robotic automation platform for utility-scale PV power plants.
Small-scale solar is having a large-scale impact on electricity demand patterns in New England.
Analysis by the Energy Department’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed that an increase in electricity generation from small-scale (less than 1 MW), customer-sited photovoltaic systems is changing the hourly pattern of metered electricity demand from March through May.
