A Sandia National Labs-led research team has developed a transparent, polymeric-based coating that helps photovoltaic panels continuously shed snow and ice.

Early field trials in Alaska demonstrated that coated panels can produce 85% more energy, compared to uncoated panels. Preliminary data also show that the coating maintains its ice- and snow-shedding performance for multiple months.

Most transmission providers and grid operators have experience using complex calculations to calculate wind capacity credit which flew under the renewable developer’s radar. Now, transmission organizations are adopting the same calculation for solar and storage. Additionally, others who didn’t use this method before are picking up this calculation due to the amount of solar in their interconnection queue.

On July 18, GE announced the brand names of the future companies it will create through its planned separation into three public companies focused on healthcare, energy, and aviation.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Joe Manchin has said he’ll oppose an economic measure he’s been negotiating with Democratic leaders if it includes climate or energy provisions or higher taxes on the rich and corporations, a Democrat briefed on the conversations said late Thursday, delivering a stunning blow to one of the party’s top election-year priorities.
