Module Level Power Electronics (MLPE) supplier Tigo Energy said it launched two 25 Amp products to support high-power and high-current bifacial solar modules.
The Tigo TS4-A-F 25A and Tigo TS4-A-2F 25A rapid shutdown devices are intended to provide first-responder safety functionality for solar modules rated up to 700W, including bifacial modules.
Tigo said both products are compatible with its RSS transmitters and pair with a variety of third-party solar inverters.
Researchers at the Energy Department’s Sandia National Laboratories created a tool that they plan to use to design a novel floating wind turbine that they said could help expand offshore deployments in deep water locations.
Wind energy continues to see strong growth, solid performance, and attractive prices in the U.S., according to a report released by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and prepared by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
With levelized costs of just over $30 per MWh for newly built projects, the cost of wind is well below its grid-system, health, and climate benefits, the report said.

Electricity generation from renewable sources, such as hydropower, wind, and solar, accounted for 20% of electricity generation both in 2020 and in 2021. Now, the Energy Department’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) said it expects that share to rise to 22% in 2022 and to 24% in 2023.
National Grid said it has located what it called “robust stocks” of renewable natural gas (RNG) and hydrogen potentially available for customers in Massachusetts and New York.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy field laboratory announced up to $44 million for projects to develop and test technology to foster innovation in enhanced geothermal systems (EGS).
The lab said that only a small fraction of the United States’ geothermal resource can be harnessed via naturally occurring hot water or steam. The vast majority, it said, is inaccessible without the creation of human-made EGS reservoirs.
Community-scale clean energy developer NineDot Energy unveiled what it said is its first battery energy storage site in the Bronx, New York City.
The 3.08 MW/12.32 MWh Tesla Megapack system is designed as a solar canopy for bi-directional electric vehicle chargers. The project supports the company’s goal of deploying 400 MW of clean energy systems by 2026.

The backers of the Great Lakes’ first offshore wind farm are working to reboot the project following an Ohio Supreme Court decision this week that resolves more than two years of legal and regulatory uncertainty.
Massachusetts’ governor signed into law a climate change bill that’s meant to bring the state closer to its goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The bill signed by Republican Gov. Charlie Baker encourages the development of offshore wind and solar energy and gives some local authority to limiting the use of fossil fuels in building projects.
