(Mon, 22 Aug 2022) This <em>Issues in Focus</em> article presents a series of cases that apply carbon fees on energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. We examine how economy-wide carbon fees influence total, sectoral, and fuel-specific energy-related CO2 emissions, as well as fuel prices. We also examine how the effect of carbon fees varies under different assumptions on macroeconomic growth.
Research engineers have found that the energy output of multi-turbine wind farms can be increased by modeling the wind flow of the entire array of turbines and optimizing the control of individual units.
The output can be increased without the need for equipment upgrades, the researchers said.
