Technical support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) helped Ghana deploy the first West African hydro-solar plant in January.
Pine Gate Renewables has secured $500 million of financing from Generate Capital to support the company's nationwide development of utility-scale solar projects.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is launching a formal partnership with 11 East Coast governors to boost the growing offshore wind industry, a key element of President Joe Biden’s plan for climate change.
NextEra Energy Resources has broken ground on a 110 MW wind farm in Minnesota.
The Walleye Wind Energy Center in Rock County will feature 40 GE wind turbines.
Subject to local and state approvals, the project is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2022.
PJM Interconnection announced the procurement of resources in its capacity auction to meet electricity needs and ensure reliable service for the 2023/2024 delivery year.
The auction results reflect what PJM said was a lower-carbon resource mix achieved at a lower cost to consumers than for the 2022/2023 delivery year.

In addition, the recent geopolitical tensions compelled several European countries to hasten their transition away from fossil fuels. As a result, the potential of floating offshore wind is in the spotlight.
Utilities have been criticized for delaying or preventing the uptake of distributed energy resources, like rooftop solar, that could upend the century-old electricity distribution model.
Dominion Energy, however, is bringing residential rooftop solar services in-house for customers in Virginia.
