(Wed, 03 Feb 2021) Just past the midpoint of winter (January 22), underground natural gas stocks for the Lower 48 states were at 2,881 billion cubic feet (Bcf), 244 Bcf greater than the five-year average. The natural gas industry considers winter to cover the months from November through March, and mid-January marks the halfway point in the season.

EDF Renewables North America (EDFR) announced that it has acquired 100-percent of EnterSolar, a provider of solar solutions to corporate commercial and industrial (C&I) customers. EDFR previously held a 50-percent interest in EnterSolar in a partnership announced in September 2018.
Today, EDF Renewables North Americaannounced the completion and commercial operation of the Desert Harvest 1 (114 MWdc) and Desert Harvest 2 (100 MWdc) solar projects. Desert Harvest 1 will provide electricity to MCE under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), while Desert Harvest 2 will supply energy and renewable attributes to Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA) under a 25-year Renewable Energy Credit (REC) + Index structure contract, according to EDF.

Hawaiian Electric announced that rooftop solar installations increased by 55% in 2020 despite the global pandemic. In 2020, 5,965 new rooftop solar systems were installed across Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island and Maui County, up from the 3,840 systems in 2019. Of the new systems, 4,624, or 78 percent, include battery storage, it said.
