German chemical company, BASF, and EDF Energy North America signed a 35-MW wind power purchase agreement (PPA) that will bring 25 MW of wind power to BASF’s Verbund site in Freeport, Texas, and 10 MW of wind power to the Pasadena, Texas, site. The agreement adds to another recent PPA that will supply the Freeport site with 55 MW of power from EDF Renewables’ Space City Solar project.

Portland General Electric today announced that Intel has joined PGE’s Green FutureSM Impact program. Intel’s participation enables PGE to enter into a 15- year agreement with Avangrid Renewables, a subsidiary of AVANGRID, Inc., to purchase the energy from a new 138-megawatt solar facility that will be developed in Wasco County, Oregon.

Yesterday, a national coalition made up of more than 220 organizations launched the 30 Million Solar Homes campaign. The campaign’s goal is to add enough rooftop and community solar energy to power 30 million homes across the U.S. within the next five years. The coalition estimates the plan will create three million good-paying jobs, lower energy bills by at least $20 billion a year and cut total annual greenhouse gas emissions by 1.5%.
