The energy transformation is creating new challenges for increasingly resource constrained utilities in every sector of the value chain. Effectively managing power grids, water and gas for entire cities and regions at scale is no small feat. And while each segment of the supply chain is unique, that doesn’t mean you have to assemble multiple solutions providers to support each area of your operations.
Honeywell offers a broad range of energy management solutions that span each segment of the value chain, from generation, to transmission, to distribution. Our portfolio of intelligent services, equipment, devices and technologies have been designed to help utilities optimize their enterprise data, assets and resources, so they can operate more safely, sustainably, productively and profitably.
The Commerce Department just handed the U.S. solar industry a lump of coal as a holiday gift.
A High Court judge in London ruled in favor of GE in a patent infringement dispute with Siemens Gamesa. The dispute involved the design of the GE Haliade-X offshore wind turbine.
In its lawsuit against GE, Siemens Gamesa claimed that the Haliade-X infringed on its European patent related to the use of bearings in wind turbine rotor hubs.
GE denied the infringement and said that the patent was invalid.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) released its annual cost breakdown of installed solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage systems.
U.S. Solar Photovoltaic System and Energy Storage Cost Benchmarks, With Minimum Sustainable Price Analysis: Q1 2022 details installed costs for PV and storage systems as of the first quarter (Q1) of 2022.
Leeward Renewable Energy said it completed construction and started operations of its 100 MW Rabbitbrush Solar Facility in Kern County, California. The project includes a 20 MW, 50 MWh battery energy storage system.
Energy generated by the project will serve two not-for-profit, community-owned electricity providers, Central Coast Community Energy and Silicon Valley Clean Energy, through two 15-year power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Utility-scale solar tracker company Ideematec said it will support Solar Proponent’s roughly 7 GW pipeline of projects in Texas using its Horizon L:TEC 1P tracker.
Ideematec and Solar Proponent are working with an EPC contractor to finalize delivery schedules for the first 650 MW project.
The Horizon L:TEC tracker includes decoupled drive technology and locked sprocket system. Ideematec offers both 1P and 2P, and capacity from one to 12 strings on one tracker.
Research from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) explores the reasons behind the wind energy workforce gap and suggests solutions for closing it.
In a survey conducted by NREL, employers cited a lack of appropriate experience, education and training, and enough applicants as reasons they cannot find qualified applicants for positions.
A recent study by Canadian and U.S.-based researchers suggests that zinc-ion battery chemistry for grid-scale energy storage may face more challenges than is widely believed.
Aqueous zinc ion battery (AZIB) chemistry has been identified as a promising technology for grid storage based on its use of zinc, a key sustainable metal, as the anode material in the cell.
Speaking before a crowd of energy industry leaders in Frankfurt, Germany, Vadym Utkin held up what he said was a piece of a Russian missile.
