A California jury awarded two landowners $6.5 million in damages they said they suffered from construction of a solar farm developed by BayWa r.e.

The San Diego Superior Court jury made the award for damages caused after site work altered the landscape and caused flooding damage to their land. The verdict was reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune.

The traditional way of modeling battery storage as pumped hydro in an integrated resource plan is outdated. Current and future energy storage technologies provide multiple benefits that can be stacked on top of each other. IRP models must analyze these multiple benefits since capacity credit values decrease as renewable penetration increases. Because of these multiple benefits, hourly models in IRPs must be replaced by sub-hourly models.

Siemens Energy said its overall fiscal year 2022 performance was held back by its Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) unit.

Christian Bruch, president and CEO of Siemens Energy, said that while the company’s gas and power business delivered “solid results,” Siemens Gamesa “did not meet expectations.”

Enel North America has announced plans to build a 3 GW solar cell and module manufacturing plant in the U.S.

First Solar said it plans to build its $1.1 billion, 3.5 GWdc factory in Alabama, its fourth U.S. photovoltaic (PV) solar module manufacturing facility.

When someone offers up a solution, they should—at the very least—know what problem they’re trying to solve.

If you did, you’d be wrong.

General Motor’s recent announcement of its new division, GM Energy, which includes bi-directional charging, vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications, stationary storage, solar products, software applications, cloud management tools, microgrid solutions, hydrogen fuel cells and more, indicated a full commitment to an electric vehicle future by GM.

(Thu, 17 Nov 2022) Iran holds some of the world’s largest oil and natural gas reserves, but crude oil production has fallen since 2017 and natural gas production growth remains limited because of international sanctions and underinvestment. Iran’s crude oil production reached a 30-year low in 2020 as a result of sanctions and the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic, and output rose slightly in 2021 because global demand increased.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency reached settlement agreements with four separate solar farm owners in three states to resolve alleged Clean Water Act violations.

The U.S. solar industry is urging the Department of Commerce to squash a tariff case ahead of a crucial deadline.
