With new steel tariffs imposed by the US, Chinese and ASEAN steel is becoming more expensive in the US. While China contributes only 2% of finished steel entering the US, Chinese items made from steel and aluminium - along with countless "transiting metals" - are likely to take a far greater share.

(Mon, 23 Apr 2018) Pennsylvania’s marketed natural gas production averaged a record 15 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in 2017, 3% higher than the 2016 level. This production is largely from shale plays in the Appalachian Basin. Pennsylvania accounted for 19% of total U.S. marketed natural gas production in 2017 and produced more natural gas than any other state except Texas.

San Mateo Midstream has announced the completion and start-up of the expansion of the Black River cryogenic natural gas processing plant in Eddy County, New Mexico.

Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) yesterday introduced a bill to repeal the solar tariffs that President Donald Trump imposed in January. Michigan utility customers who put surplus electricity they generate back onto the power grid will be paid a lower, avoided-cost rate after June 1.

Interest rates are rising, making debt much more expensive for capital-intensive industries across America. But there’s at least one exception: the solar business.
