Morocco plans to build plants to produce another 800 MW of solar power, just months after attracting bids for its Midelt project as the North African country moves to curb energy imports.

Coal, which fueled the world’s biggest economies for more than a century, is increasingly losing out to renewables. The latest example of how one of the dirtiest fossil fuels is being squeezed out of the market came this week in Britain.

Equilon Enterprises, doing business as Shell Oil Products US (Shell), and Toyota have provisionally secured $8m by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to develop the first hydrogen-truck refueling station at the Port of Long Beach.

(Thu, 19 Apr 2018) The United States exported 97.0 million short tons (MMst) of coal in 2017, a 61% (36.7 MMst) increase from the 2016 level. Exports to Asia more than doubled from 15.7 MMst in 2016 to 32.8 MMst in 2017, although Europe continues to be the largest recipient of U.S. coal exports.

Fluor has won a contract from Marathon Petroleum (MPC) for the implementation of the approximately $2bn South Texas Asset Repositioning (STAR) program at the Galveston Bay refinery in Texas.

Saudi Aramco has awarded a contract to Canada-based SNC-Lavalin to install additional facilities for Wasit gas processing facility in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
