British-Swedish pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca is partnering with Future Biogas to power its UK sites with low-carbon energy as part of company decarbonization efforts.

Solar energy advocates reacted strongly to proposed changes to California’s net metering program. Residential solar developer Sunrun in its initial response appeared to frame a potential federal-level challenge to the proposal, which was issued December 13 and is scheduled for a January 27 vote.

Shell has signed an agreement to purchase 100% of Savion LLC (Savion), a large utility-scale and energy storage developer.

Savion, based in Kansas City, Missouri, specializes in developing solar power and energy storage projects. It currently has more than 18 gigawatts of solar power and battery storage under development, including for utilities and major commercial and industrial organizations.

Geenex Solar LLC, a utility-scale solar developer focused on the PJM region, said it closed additional financing from New Energy Capital. NEC and Geenex entered into their first financial arrangement in early 2019. Terms of the latest deal were not disclosed. 

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the New York Power Authority (NYPA) Board of Trustees approved 34 ReCharge NY power allocations to 29 customers in support of more than 22,600 jobs across the state that will also spur more than $629 million in private capital investments.

The proposal will be on the CPUC’s Jan. 27, 2022 agenda for a vote.

ZeroAvia announced it has raised another $35 million to help develop its 2-5 megawatt (MW) zero-emission powertrain systems for commercial aviation.
