As the top energy regulator, FERC had a busy year in 2021. FERC was actively involved in the investigation into the Texas winter event, and the joint report with NERC did not find fault with renewables. FERC has opened several lines of inquiry into building the future grid. But FERC needs to do more in 2022.

2021 was another year of severe weather and power outages. No region of the country was immune.
Colorado-based Scout Clean Energy acquired the 369 MW, $400 million Blue Sky Solar project from its original developer, RES (Renewable Energy Systems).

The past 12 months have been positively electric for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). From working with the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a national EV charging infrastructure blueprint to speaking at COP26 about numerous EPRI-led decarbonization research initiatives, it has been a whirlwind of a year.

Many climate activists and clean energy enthusiasts warn against the continued use of, and investment in, natural gas infrastructure, insisting it isn’t a substitute for clean energy. They are correct.

Anchored by $20 billion in infrastructure funds, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced a new Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations.
Two California solar projects have the green light from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
The Arica and Victory Pass solar projects are located on federally owned land in Riverside County east of Los Angeles. Combined they could generate up to 465 MW of power and up to 400 MW of battery storage.
Lightsource bp closed on a $376 million multi-project financing package and mobilized construction on its 293 MWdc Sun Mountain solar project in Pueblo, Colorado, and its 173 MW Bellflower Solar project in Indiana.
