The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) says nearly half of planned capacity additions in 2022 will be solar energy resources.

Wales has always been on the forefront of British renewable developments. The Celtic nation was one of the first in Europe to take green technologies seriously with the Centre for Alternative Technology opening and spearheading research back in the early 1970s.
Blackstone Infrastructure Partners said it will make a $3 billion equity investment in Invenergy Renewables Holdings, a Chicago-based renewable energy developer.
Blackstone’s investment will provide capital to speed Invenergy’s renewables development activities. Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) and Invenergy management remain majority owners and Invenergy will continue as managing member.
China Three Gorges (CTG) said it has begun construction of the 1.7 GW Tiantai pumped storage power station in Zhajiang Province.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a $500 million offshore wind investment to include manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure. The state plans to develop 4,300 MW of offshore wind energy, representing nearly half of New York’s 9,000 MW goal for 2035.
Coupled with the $500 million, the state will launch its next offshore wind procurement in 2022, which is expected to result in at least 2 GW of new projects.
Pattern Energy completed construction of four separate wind farms collectively known as the Western Spirit Wind Project. The 1,050 MW project was built in three Central New Mexico counties and combined becomes the largest in the state.

Bureau Veritas said it welcomed the UK government’s plans to invest in the tidal energy industry, suggesting that tidal stream electricity has the potential to become one of the most viable and reliable sources of renewable energy in the world.
Kansas City-based Evergy said that its Hawthorn power plant would be home to 10 MW of new solar energy capacity, pending regulatory approval.
Evergy said it plans to build the solar array on 67 acres near the Hawthorn plant in northeast Kansas City, Mo. The site is expected to include more than 22,000 solar panels and be operational in fall 2022.

With the expected boom in U.S. offshore wind construction, all project participants should consider and adopt risk management approaches that enhance planning and coordination among the participants before and during construction.
These approaches help avoid or at least mitigate friction and problems among the participants that drive up costs and cause delays and lead to claims and disputes.
