Miami-based Atlas Renewable Energy, a developer of solar projects in Latin America, is expanding into the wind market.
Atlas said it entered into its first long-term wind power purchase agreement, contracting with Enel for 1.3 TWh per year to be generated by a 417 MW project portfolio in Chile.
As wind turbines get taller, logistical challenges from transportation and installation grow, too.

The U.S. Department of Energy published a “Request for Information (RFI)” last November, seeking information to help the department evaluate America’s energy sector supply chains.
Duke Energy said it increased its electricity generating capacity from renewable energy sources by 20% in 2021.
Duke added 1,800 MW of wind and solar capacity over the year to reach a total of 10,500 MW. The utility has a goal of owning, operating or contracting 16,000 MW of renewable energy by 2025.
The press release was quick to make the rounds late last year: Google had installed integrated solar modules throughout its new campus in Mountain View, Calif., in the form of 90,000 squares that looked to many observers like a dragon's scales.
