Solar module maker LONGi said it is launching a solar module for residential and commercial applications in the U.S.

The Hi-MO 5 54-cell module is based on the M10 182-mm-monocrystaline wafer. It will be available in early 2023, first as a monofacial module followed by a bifacial module planned for later in the year.

PV solar manufacturer Toledo Solar said it would expand its domestic panel manufacturing capacity to reach 2.8 GW by 2027. The Ohio-based company said the move is in response to demand for solar products and the recently enacted Inflation Reduction Act.

Nexamp and National Grid are deploying an 8.4 MW solar energy system along with 31 MWh of energy stroage at a substation in Watertown, New York. The paired system is intended to eliminate the need for additional transmission lines or substation upgrades through a Non-Wires Alternative (NWA) approach.

California’s governor signed AB 2316 into law, creating a community renewable energy program that pairs community solar with storage. The measure is intended to help the state address access barriers that affect nearly half of Californians who rent or have low incomes.

Energy-as-a-service-provider Sunnova Energy said it is expanding its energy service offerings to the commercial solar market, targeting the industrial, agricultural, commercial real estate, non-profit, commercial, and public sectors.

Solar developer Silicon Ranch and recycling startup SOLARCYCLE said they plan to partner to process end-of-life solar modules.

SOLARCYCLE said its recycling method recovers roughly 95% of a solar panel’s value, which can be returned to the supply chain and used to manufacture new panels.

Azure Power Global signed a deal for 600 MW of photovoltaic (PV) solar modules from First Solar.

Terra-Gen said it completed financing for the second phase of its Edwards Sanborn Solar Storage facility in Kern County, Calif.

This project phase includes 410 MWac of nameplate solar capacity (358 MWac at the point of interconnection) and 1,786 MWh of battery storage. The first phase was financed in July 2021 and its 345 MW of PV and 1,505 MWh of storage are now in service.

Regulators in Minnesota approved Xcel Energy’s Sherco Solar Project, a 460 MW plant that would be among the largest solar facilities in the upper Midwest.
