VIENTIANE, Sept 6 (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo
Abe on Tuesday agreed to provide two large-sized patrol ships
and lend up to five used surveillance aircraft to the
Philippines, a Japanese government spokesman said, with both
countries locked in territorial disputes with China.

SALAGA, Ghana, Sept 6 (Reuters) - The leader of Ghana's main
opposition party, Nana Akufo-Addo, climbed from his car, picked
up a microphone and made a bold election promise to give every
constituency the equivalent of $1 million a year if his party
wins power.

LONDON, Sept 6 (Reuters) - European shares rose slightly on
Tuesday and held near their highest levels since April supported
on the day by the energy sector and a jump in shares of
healthcare firm Fresenius which rose following an
acquisition in Spain.

BANGKOK, Sept 6 (Reuters) - BCPG Pcl, the solar power unit
of Thai oil refiner Bangchak Petroleum Pcl, could raise
up to 5.9 billion baht ($170 million) from an initial public
offering this month, the company said on Tuesday.
