Jan 18 (Reuters) - The U.S. Army on Wednesday began the
process of launching an environmental study of the Dakota Access
pipeline crossing in North Dakota, a move that has been
challenged by the company constructing the controversial
project.

Jan 18 (Reuters) - Kinder Morgan Inc reported
lower-than-expected quarterly revenue for the ninth straight
quarter as its pipelines transported lower volumes of oil and

UPDATE 3-U.S. EPA denies petition to waive advanced biofuels requirements

NEW YORK, Jan 18 (Reuters) - U.S. environmental regulators
have denied a request from oil refiners to waive some of their
advanced biofuels use requirements from 2016, in what is likely
to be one of the Obama administration's final decisions on the
controversial program.

UPDATE 2-Egypt on track to receive IMF loan's second tranche

CAIRO, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Egypt is on track to receive the
second tranche of a $12 billion three-year loan from the
International Monetary Fund pending a visit in the end of
February to review progress on its economic reform programme,
the Fund said on Wednesday.

UPDATE 2-Colombia peace talks with ELN rebels start February -statement

BOGOTA/QUITO, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Colombia's government will
begin much-delayed formal peace talks with the country's
second-biggest rebel group the ELN on Feb. 7, after the
guerrillas release a politician being held hostage, the two
sides said on Wednesday.

UPDATE 1-Trump EPA pick says backs biofuels program, but open to tweaks

WASHINGTON, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Oklahoma Attorney General
Scott Pruitt, President-elect Donald Trump's choice to lead the
Environmental Protection Agency, said on Wednesday he would
honor the intent of the U.S. biofuels program, but remained open
to tweaking it.
