BEIJING, Jan 20 (Reuters) - China's December coal output
rose 1 percent from November to hit its highest level in a year,
as miners cranked out more product to meet government orders
amid increased demand from utilities during the cold winter
months, data showed on Friday.

SINGAPORE, Jan 20 (Reuters) - U.S. oil climbed for a second
day on Friday underpinned by expectations of tighter supply, but
prices remained in a range as they were pressured by rising U.S.
inventories.

CANNON BALL, N.D., Jan 19 (Reuters) - Tensions have

SAO PAULO, Jan 19 (Reuters) - The Brazilian oil workers'
union has accepted a proposal from state-controlled Petrobras
for a collective wage deal, the union said in a statement on its
website on Thursday.

SANTIAGO, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Chilean copper miner
Antofagasta said on Thursday it would sell its 40
percent stake in the Alto Maipo hydroelectric power project to
partner AES Gener, exiting the project entirely.

OTTAWA, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Canadian exporters are scrambling
to find ways to avoid a potential 10 percent import tax promised
by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, including the possible
shifting of production or supply lines south of the border.

The proposed U.S. Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry, once said that he would like to see the Department of Energy eliminated. However, now that he has been tapped to lead the department and understands its role Perry said he “would be honored” to be confirmed as the next leader of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

TORONTO, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Canadian underwater energy
storage company Hydrostor is eyeing $1 billion of contracts to
replace decommissioned U.S. peak power plants in the next two or
three years, its chief executive said.
