(Fri, 03 Mar 2017) In 2016, the California Independent Systems Operator (ISO), which coordinates most of the electricity used in California, imported a net daily average of 201 billion kilowatthours (kWh) throughout the year from other western regions, or about 26% of its average daily demand.

Chinese oil and gas company Sinopec Group is reportedly planning to invest CNY200bn ($29.05bn) to upgrade its four main oil refineries in the country through 2020.

Edinburgh, Scotland-based Atlantis Resources Ltd. announced on Feb. 20 its 1.5-MW AR1500 tidal turbine deployed at the Meygen project site in Pentland Firth, Scotland, has exported power to the grid and operated at full power.

(Wed, 01 Mar 2017) Canada is the largest energy trading partner of the United States. Based on the latest annual data from the U.S. Census Bureau, energy accounted for about 5% of the value of all U.S. exports to Canada and more than 19% of the value of all U.S. imports from Canada in 2016.
