Saudi Arabian Oil (Saudi Aramco) and Royal Dutch Shell have agreed to split the assets, liabilities and businesses of their US joint venture, Motiva Enterprises.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on March 1 said that its scientists have launched two California Energy Commission (CEC)-funded projects aimed at making geothermal energy more cost-effective to deploy and operate.

Kenya Electricity Generating Company has secured two sets of 70-MW turbines and generators for the Olkaria V geothermal plant in Nakuru district in Kenya. 

Distributed energy resources are fast becoming cost competitive with traditionally generated electricity. According to Rocky Mountain Institute, grid-connected solar-plus-battery systems will reach economic parity with grid electricity within the next 10-15 years. Despite near-term technical and financial challenges, more and more business will adopt on- and off-site generation, storage, community and wholesale projects.
