The rig to be utilized for the work programme has been successfully rigged up at the POG-D well location, which is the first well identified in the work programme. The reopening of the POG-D well has already commenced and is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Following reopening of the well, the same rig will be used to undertake a workover on the well.
(Tue, 29 May 2018) Fossil fuel consumption in the electric power sector declined to 22.5 quadrillion British thermal units (quads) in 2017, the lowest level since 1994. The declining trend in fossil fuel consumption by the power sector has been driven by a decrease in the use of coal and petroleum with a slightly offsetting increase in the use of natural gas.
The Australia-based uranium miner said that it has secured approval of relevant stakeholders to place the mine under care and maintenance. The company has also stopped feeding the ore to the processing plant.
Paladin Energy is looking to restart production at the Langer Heinrich uranium mine once the uranium market is normalized as per its expectations in the next few years.
The West African gold producer said that the new discoveries have thereby extended the Kari Pump high grade mineralization at the gold mine, located 250km southwest of Ouagadougou.
Endeavour Mining said that it had prioritized its exploration efforts on the wider Kari area following the Kari Pump discovery in last November. The Kari area features a large gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly that spans an area of 6km by 2.5km-wide area, said the intermediate gold producer.

As part of this plan, SSE has partnered with Siemens to introduce the new first-of-a-kind, high efficiency gas-fired generation technology to the UK.
Siemens will be responsible for supplying of its 9000HL technology for the Keadby 2 power plant. The firm will also manage technical, construction risk until the plant is handed over to SSE.
Under the contract, Odfjell will use the semi-submersible mobile drilling rig, Deepsea Atlantic, to drill six wells at the two licenses.
Work under the contract is scheduled to commence in early first quarter 2019 and is expected to last for 18 months.
Odfjell has signed a master framework agreement (MFA) with Equinor. The deal has terms that will be used for future rig contracts with Odfjell on the Norwegian continental shelf.
The partners will receive a grant from Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) to develop the nanostructured material.
Enel , acting through its advanced energy services unit Enel X and RusEnergoSbyt, the energy supplier and joint venture between Enel and ESN, signed a Partnership Agreement with Joint Stock Company Russian Railways (“RZhD”), whereby the two players will team up mainly for the development of innovative energy storage systems to be installed across the Country’s railway network. This is the first time this type of battery technology is used in the railway sector.
Aker BP is the operator of the Alvheim field, which is an oil and gas field in the central part of the North Sea, west of Heimdal and close to the boundary with the UK sector. Water depth in the area is approximately 124 metres.
We have given Aker BP consent to use the Deepsea Stavanger mobile drilling facility to drill on the field.
