Dominion Energy is buying a second utility-scale battery project from energy storage developer East Point Energy.

At 15.7 MW/62.8 MWh, the Shands energy storage project would be one of the largest standalone storage projects in Virginia when it becomes operational in 2023.

Primergy Solar signed a sole battery supply agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL) for the $1.2 billion Gemini solar + storage project outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Once completed, Gemini will be one of the largest operational solar and storage projects in the U.S., with a 690 MWac/966 MWdc solar array and 1,416 MWh storage capability.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) published a study that examines future U.S. offshore wind workforce growth and identifies future workforce development needs.

The report estimates that the offshore wind industry will need an average of between 15,000 and 58,000 full-time jobs every year from 2024 to 2030, depending on the amount of American-made content used. That is an expected increase from fewer than 1,000 jobs today, NREL said.

The date has been set for California's first offshore wind lease auction.

The federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) said that the auction for rights to develop waters off central and northern California will be held on December 6. The auction represents the first ever along the U.S. Pacific Coast.

Energy transition fund Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners (FEIP) has made its first investment in pumped storage hydro technology, to help construct a combined pumped storage and wind facility in Scotland.

The Office of the United States Trade Representative said it will seek public comments as part of the statutory four-year review of tariff actions in the Section 301 investigation of China’s Acts, Policies, and Practices Related to Technology Transfer, Intellectual Property, and Innovation.

The Trade Representative’s office said it has received requests from domestic industries to continue the tariff action, which impacts imports of solar energy equipment.

A recent analysis reveals the daunting number of variables that need to be considered when attempting to pair agricultural production and solar generation.

Midwest grid operators Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) are sticking with their plans to implement distributed energy resource participation in wholesale markets, according to responses filed at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
