The U.S. Postal Service said it now expects to acquire at least 66,000 battery electric delivery vehicles as part of its 106,000 vehicle acquisition plan for deliveries between now and 2028.
The vehicles are expected to begin to replace the Postal Service’s aging delivery fleet of more than 220,000 vehicles.
The Postal Service said it anticipates at least 60,000 Next Generation Delivery Vehicles (NGDV), of which at least 75% (45,000) will be battery electric.
BENGALURU, India (AP) — For renewable energy companies in India, it’s a good time to be in business.
One of India’s largest renewable energy firms, Renew Power, will be among the corporations big and small hoping for a piece of a $2.6 billion government scheme that encourages the domestic manufacturing of components required to produce solar energy. It’s the biggest such incentive in India’s history.
Developers added 501 MW of new wind power capacity in the U.S. from July to September, marking one of the slowest third quarters on record for project completion.
The figure was 22% of the 2,227 MW of wind capacity energized in the third quarter of 2021, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence data. No other third quarter recorded lower wind capacity additions since at least 2015, the first year of the dataset.
Mitsubishi Power plans to supply three utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in the southeastern U.S.
Totaling 150 MW/600 MWh, the BESS projects will be co-located with three Origis Energy photovoltaic solar facilities. Mitsubishi Power said the projects will likely come online in the next two years.

It’s been a tough week for the rooftop solar industry.
Nearly a week after California regulators voted to slash compensation for rooftop solar customers, the industry suffered another blow, this time in Georgia.
The Georgia Public Service Commission approved Georgia Power Company’s plan to raise power rates by $1.8 billion or 12% over three years.
There is a roadmap required to move your utility to the future. Systems must be ready to handle the decarbonization and decentralization challenges posed by the energy transition. They will encompass a diverse set of generation assets, enable close to real time data analytics across transmission and distribution, and empower consumers’ active participation. Future energy will harness interlocking systems that are collaborative, adaptive and decarbonized.

Around 100 lucky (or perhaps not so lucky) low-income customers who have been frequently impacted by outages due to Pacific Gas & Electric’s Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS) initiative could get a no-cost battery system courtesy of the utility and Enphase Energy.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Several of Indiana’s major employers want their local utilities to make it easier for them to buy power generated by wind and solar farms so they can move closer to their renewable energy goals.
