China's commodities appetite shows little sign of waning in December

BEIJING, Jan 13 (Reuters) - China's commodity imports jumped
again in December, pushing 2016 shipments of goods from crude to
iron ore to record levels and boosting expectations that lower
domestic output will help prolong the months-long buying binge.

Natural gas prices in 2016 were the lowest in nearly 20 years

(Fri, 13 Jan 2017) Natural gas spot prices in 2016 averaged $2.49 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) at the national benchmark Henry Hub, the lowest annual average price since 1999. The monthly average price fell below $2.00/MMBtu from February through May, but later increased, ending the year at an average of $3.58/MMBtu in December.

slightly in December from the previous month but were still up

China 2016 iron ore imports at record 1.024 bln tonnes -customs

BEIJING, Jan 13 (Reuters) - China's imports of iron ore rose
7.5 percent to a record 1.024 billion tonnes in 2016, data from
the General Administration of Customs showed on Friday, as
economic stimulus measures sustained steel demand even as the
government cracked down on excess capacity.

UPDATE 1-Accident kills worker at Pemex refinery in Mexico, output not affected

MEXICO CITY, Jan 12 (Reuters) - An accident at the Ciudad
Madero refinery of Mexican state-owned oil firm Pemex
killed one worker on Thursday, but the incident will not affect
production, a company representative said.
