WASHINGTON, Jan 30 (Reuters) - House Republicans were set on
Monday to begin the process of killing five Obama-era rules on
corruption, the environment, labor and guns under the first real
test of a law intended to keep regulation in check.

UPDATE 1-Swedish government: won't oppose port making Nord Stream deal

STOCKHOLM, Jan 30 (Reuters) - The Swedish government said on
Monday it would not hinder Russia's Gazprom in its
plan to use a southern Swedish port as a base for construction
of a gas pipeline project that has raised security concerns.

France, worried by Trump, promises to be defender of Iran nuclear deal

TEHRAN, Jan 30 (Reuters) - France vowed on Monday to act as
defender of Iran's nuclear deal, which U.S. President Donald
Trump has threatened to tear up, but said it was imperative
Tehran abide strictly by the conditions of the accord.

UPDATE 3-U.S. will change course on climate policy, says former EPA transition head

LONDON, Jan 30 (Reuters) - The United States will switch
course on climate change and pull out of a global pact to cut
emissions, said Myron Ebell, who headed U.S. President Donald

unveiled a legislative plan on Monday to scrap a rule devised

publicly-traded mining, oil and gas companies to disclose
payments they make to foreign governments.

CANADA STOCKS-TSX posts largest drop since September on travel curb jitters

TORONTO, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index fell
to a nearly two-week low on Monday and was on track for its
deepest loss since September after a travel ban implemented by
U.S. President Donald Trump triggered uncertainty for investors.

Bangladesh to bid for Chevron gas fields after assessing reserves

DHAKA, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Bangladesh is hiring an
international firm to assess reserves at Chevron Corp's
natural gas fields in the country before placing a formal bid
to buy the assets, its energy minister told Reuters on Monday.
