A new blockchain-based energy-sharing token has been launched in The Netherlands. Named the ‘Jouliette’, the new token aims to empower individuals and communities to easily manage and share locally produced renewable energy.

Wind energy observers worldwide took notice when Bloomberg News reported the contract price (September 11) for a U.K. energy auction: £57.50 ($77.76) per MWh — a 50 percent decline in recent offshore energy costs. 

ABB yesterday said that it signed an agreement with energy storage firm Northvolt on a supply and technology partnership, including products and services for Northvolt’s planned lithium-ion battery factory in Sweden.

(Wed, 27 Sep 2017) Coal-fired electricity generation in China, the world’s largest coal consumer, is expected to remain flat through 2040, according to EIA’s International Energy Outlook 2017 (IEO2017). Other fuels, such as renewables, natural gas, and nuclear power, are expected to make up increasing shares of China’s electricity generation.

On Tuesday, September 26, Dallas-based energy solutions provider O3 energy announced the launch of its new O3 Channel Partners, which opens up financing to qualified solar projects in North America.

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based electricity and telecom provider EPB recently energized a 100-kW/400-kWh vanadium redox flow battery as part of a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and a group of national labs.

The website was created as a collaborative initiative among the U.S. Energy Information Administration; the Groundwater Protection Council (GWPC) and its member states; and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Oil and Natural Gas, part of the Office of Fossil Energy.
