Energy Update
(Wed, 29 Apr 2015) U.S. energy consumption has slowed recently and is not anticipated to return to growth levels seen in the second half of the 20th century. EIA's Reference case projections in the Annual Energy Outlook 2015 show that domestic consumption is expected to grow 0.3% per year through 2040, less than half the rate of population growth.
(Wed, 29 Apr 2015) South Africa has a large energy-intensive coal mining industry. The country has the world's ninth-largest amount of recoverable coal reserves and holds 95% of Africa's total coal reserves. South Africa exports more than 25% of its coal production, domestically consuming the remainder particularly in its electricity sector. Most of South Africa?s coal exports are sent to Asia, with India being the largest recipient.
Al-KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia, April 29 (Reuters) - Saudi King Salman on Wednesday appointed Saudi Aramco Chief Executive and President Khalid al-Falih as the country's health minister and chairman of the state oil company in the world's top crude exporter, state television said.
