Missouri utility regulators have approved construction plans for what will be Ameren’s largest-ever solar power farm in the state.

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) funded development of the newly released Pumped Storage Hydropower Valuation Guidebook to advance the state-of-the-art in assessing the value of pumped storage hydropower (PSH) plants and their contributions to the power system.

EDP Renewables SA, through its fully owned subsidiary EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA), and Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), a subsidiary of NiSource, have executed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and a Build & Transfer Agreement (BTA) for two renewable energy projects in Indiana.

“I don’t understand this contract at all,” a Transportation Director of a medium-sized school district recently told me. Thad (not his real name) had been running buses for decades, almost all diesels, like most of his peers. He’d landed a grant for his first electric school bus and charging infrastructure, and the contract he was looking at was written by the investor owned utility (IOU)* that was providing the funds.

Global renewable energy developer BayWa r.e. has completed the acquisition of High Constellation Wind Farm in Scotland from Blue Energy.

BayWa has added the wind farm to its growing portfolio of UK assets, which has installed capacity of 685 MW.

High Constellation is a proposed 10-turbine wind farm on the Kintyre peninsula about 20 km South of Tarbert and 30 km North of Campbeltown.

Sited across six Pennsylvania counties, 191 MW of solar projects expected to help state reduce its carbon emissions by more than 157,000 metric tons annually

Constellation, an Exelon company and a competitive energy provider, and Lightsource bp, a solar developer, announced today that agreements are in place to help the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania source approximately 50 percent of its annual energy consumption from renewable supply.

The North American Development bank, based in San Antonio, TX, has emerged as an unlikely but important source of financing for renewable energy projects in the U.S.-Mexico border region, a region of North America that is well-suited for the generation of both solar and wind energy.

Over the past four years, the wind contribution to the energy generation mix in the state of Victoria has grown significantly. In fact, research from Cornwall Insight Australia shows, on average, across the entire day in 2020, wind delivered 14% of the energy generation mix in the state, doubling its output from 7% in 2017.

Electrification of everything is not necessarily the best path to decarbonization if was also want reliable energy delivery, argues David Cox.
