SAO PAULO, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Marcelo Odebrecht, the former chief executive of Grupo Odebrecht, has formalized his departure from Latin America's largest engineering group after six months in prison on corruption charges, the Brazilian company said on Thursday.
SYDNEY, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Australia's CIMIC has won a A$1.3 billion ($944 million) contract to continue running operations at the Lake Vermont coal mine in the state of Queensland, the contract miner said on Friday.

SAO PAULO, Dec 10 (Reuters) - State prosecutors in Brazil said on Thursday they were bringing a civil lawsuit against miners Vale, BHP Billiton and their joint venture Samarco, an iron ore mine where a burst dam last month killed at least 13 people and devastated a nearby village.

SYDNEY, Dec 11 (Reuters) - Australian shares are likely to see cautious trade at the open on Friday with falling iron ore prices likely to cap gains. Local share price index futures edged down 0.1 percent to 5,030, a 7.7-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index close on Thursday. The benchmark touched a one-month low in the last session and was on track for a 2.2 percent decline this week.
Dec 10 (Reuters) - Short selling in the S&P 500 energy sector rose in November to its highest level in years, outpacing that of the benchmark S&P 500 index as crude oil prices continued to tumble amid a global glut, according to Markit data.
