LOS ANGELES, April 18 (Reuters) - Hundreds of Los Angeles
homeowners who live near the site of the worst U.S. methane leak
have filed claims against state regulators and the governor,
seeking $3.5 million each in damages for government failures
they blame for the gas blowout.

SYDNEY/WELLINGTON, April 19 (Reuters) - Australian shares
climbed to a 3-1/2-month high on Tuesday, while New Zealand
stocks reached another record after a sudden reversal higher in
oil prices whetted appetite for risk assets from equities to
commodity currencies.

BEIJING, April 18 (Reuters) - China's Foreign Ministry on
Monday called for talks after Costa Rica's state-run oil
company, Recope, said last week it had decided to abandon a $1.5
billion refinery upgrade project it was working on with China
National Petroleum Corp (CNPC).

MELBOURNE, April 19 (Reuters) - Chevron has agreed
to sell 20 petajoules a year of gas from its Wheatstone project
to Alinta Energy in Western Australia starting in 2020, securing
a customer for more than a quarter of the domestic gas output
from Wheatstone.

LONDON, April 18 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's decision to
scupper negotiations on a coordinated oil output freeze in Doha
on Sunday seems to confirm a significant shift in the kingdom's
oil policy.

SINGAPORE, April 19 (Reuters) - Oil prices edged up in early
trading on Tuesday as an oil worker strike in Kuwait cut huge
amounts of crude out of the supply chain.

QUITO, April 18 (Reuters) - Ecuador signed off on Monday on
a credit line for $2 billion from the China Development Bank
(CDB) to finance public investment, the Finance Ministry in the
quake-hit Andean country said in a statement.
