BAMAKO, Aug 4 (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Residents of
Mali's capital, Bamako, and surrounding areas will find it
easier to switch on power in their homes thanks to local banks
that have begun offering credit to buy solar energy equipment.

Aug 4 (Reuters) - Duke Energy Corp, the biggest U.S.
power company by generation capacity, reported a
higher-than-expected quarterly profit, helped by strength in its
regulated power business.

net loss narrowed from a year earlier, when the No.2 U.S.
natural gas producer had taken a $5 billion impairment charge.

HOUSTON/NEW YORK, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The long-planned and
oft-delayed Sandpiper pipeline through the U.S. Midwest may not
be dead, but it appears to be on life support, a likely casualty
of the oil-and-gas industry's infrastructure overbuild amid a
two-year global oil rout.

Aug 4 (Reuters) - Oil and natural gas producer Canadian
Natural Resources Ltd reported a smaller
quarterly loss on Thursday, as lower expenses helped offset a
slump in crude prices.
