Aug 4 (Reuters) - Oil and natural gas producer Canadian
Natural Resources Ltd reported a smaller
quarterly loss on Thursday as lower expenses helped offset a
slump in crude prices.

BUENOS AIRES, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Argentina's state-controlled
oil company YPF registered a net loss of 753 million
pesos ($50.7 million) in the second quarter, it said Thursday,
an abrupt reversal from the 2.3 billion peso profit it posted in
the same period a year ago.

CARACAS, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Venezuela's Oil Minister Eulogio
del Pino has spoken to OPEC Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo
ahead of a meeting between OPEC and non-OPEC producers in hope
of boosting the global oil price, President Nicolas Maduro said
on Thursday.

TerraForm Power Inc., the wind-and-solar company formed by the bankrupt SunEdison Inc., is setting up a formal auction to sell itself after Brookfield Asset Management Inc. attempted to take control of the company, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

SAO PAULO, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Othon Luiz Pinheiro da Silva,
the former chief executive of Brazil's nuclear power company
Eletronuclear, was sentenced to serve 43 years in prison by a
Rio de Janeiro judge late on Wednesday, the Valor Economico
newspaper reported.
