MILAN/LONDON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - France's stricken nuclear
power sector has become a key driver of European power prices,
fuelling gains across markets and pushing coal back into the
limelight as winter nears.
The North Carolina Utilities Commission on Oct. 17 approved an Aug. 11 motion to modify and delay the 2016 requirements of a swine and poultry power supply set-aside program.
LONDON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - While no steel maker will be
happy with the explosion in coking coal prices, Chinese mills
are the best placed to deal with the impact, given they are
nowhere near as exposed to spot prices as competitors in the
rest of Asia and Europe.
CARACAS, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Venezuelan opposition leaders
said on Friday they were banned from leaving Venezuela, adding
to outrage over the suspension of their drive for a recall
referendum against unpopular socialist leader Nicolas Maduro.
There’s an emerging trend among utilities across the country to undermine a law that promotes solar energy. The attack is on a decades-old law called the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, or PURPA — a law that has paved the way for policies that have brought renewable energy into the mainstream in the U.S.
A long-planned Lake Erie wind project got an important boost in September. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), along with the Coast Guard and the Army Corp of Engineers, held a public scoping session to start a federal environmental assessment for Project Icebreaker, which would construct six wind turbines about eight miles from shore.
