SYDNEY, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Glencore and Japanese
power utilities have settled quarterly thermal coal contract
prices at $94.75 a tonne, up from around $64 last quarter,
sources confirmed on Tuesday, reflecting a surge in spot prices.

CONAKRY, Oct 24 (Reuters) - China Harbour Engineering
Company (CHEC) signed a $770 million contract with Guinea's
government on Monday to upgrade the port in the capital,
Conakry, expanding Chinese economic influence in the West
African iron and bauxite producer.

CALGARY, Alberta, Oct 24 (Reuters) - The Alberta government
is considering enshrining in law its target of generating 30
percent of the province's electricity from renewable sources by
