Oct 31 (Reuters) - Occidental Petroleum Corp said it
has bought producing and non-producing leasehold acreage in the
Permian Basin from private sellers and has also bought interests
in several other properties for about $2 billion in all.

UPDATE 1-Saudi Arabia appoints new minister of finance

DUBAI/DOHA, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia appointed market
regulator Mohammed al-Jadaan as its new finance minister by
royal decree on Monday, replacing Ibrahim Alassaf, who had held
the post since 1996.
