Iberdrola España has commissioned the first pumping station set at Valdecañas, in Cáceres, Extremadura, which has a total capacity of 225 MW and includes a hybridized battery of 15 MW and 7.5 MWh of stored energy.

The sales agreement includes the operating 255 MW Bujagali hydropower plant in Uganda, and a development portfolio consisting of the 361 MW Mpatamanga in Malawi and the 206 MW Ruzizi III at the border of Rwanda, DRC, and Burundi.

The Porto project, Eco Wave Power's first MW-scale wave energy venture in Portugal, is expected to be finalized in 2026.

The refurbishment of the existing 45MW hydro-electric power station, which was commissioned in 1958, is expected to extend its operational life by at least another 40 years.

The project replaces the William C. Gorgas Electric Generating Plant, which at its height operated eight units that produced 1,416 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

The Institute for Local Self-Reliance has released its 2025 Community Power Scorecard grading clean energy efforts in each state.
