JERUSALEM/TEL AVIV, Sept 1 (Reuters) - The discovery of vast deposits of natural gas off Egypt has muddied the waters for Israel's own gas industry, though Israel's head start in developing fields means markets' negative reaction may be overdone.
ALMATY, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan and China have signed 25 agreements worth $23 billion, aiming to move cooperation dominated by raw materials to products with greater added value, the official site of the Kazakh president and the state-run wealth fund said on Tuesday.
NextEra Energy Inc. and Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. made 50 new commitments as part of their proposal to merge that, they said, would accelerate Hawaii’s goal of getting all of its power from renewable resources.

Hawaii Governor David Ige on Aug. 21 joined executives from the Office of Ocean Naval Research (ONR), Makai Ocean Engineering and other organizations on-site at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA) in cutting the ribbon and commissioning the first U.S., and world's largest, grid-connected ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) power plant.
Thanks to cost-effective rooftop solar electricity, new neighborhoods in California are generating their own electricity from the start. Likewise, local grids serving settled communities are being strengthened by deployment of local sources, smarter end use, and electricity storage. Regulators are considering new grid architectures that allow each local grid to be operated according to its unique blend of local and imported supply and evolving usage patterns.
