Stantec has been selected by rPlus Hydro to conduct a detailed feasibility study for the 900-MW Seminoe Pumped Storage Project, located on Seminoe Reservoir about 30 miles outside Rawlins, Wyo.

The proposed project will help to address energy storage needs in the Western U.S. as more renewable energy is integrated onto the grid.

Huawei secures contract for 1300MWh Saudi battery storage project

Technology company Huawei Digital Power has been awarded a contract to build what is claimed to be the world’s largest battery energy storage system in Saudi Arabia.

Huawei will be partnering with Chinese construction and engineering company SEPCO111 to deliver the energy storage system as part of the Red Sea Project.

If you want to follow the money in the energy sector, the trail might lead you straight to a battery storage project, according to venture capital data so far this year.

A new funding, mergers and acquisition report by Mercom Capital counted some $11.4 billion raised in corporate funding for battery storage in 2021’s first nine months. The total capital represents 73 deals and is an all-time 9-month record for such transactions, Mercom says.
