GREGOIRE LAKE, Alberta, May 8 (Reuters) - Fort McMurray's
160 firefighters worked almost non-stop in the first days of a
massive Canadian wildfire that sent nearly 90,000 fleeing for
safety, even as some of them lost their own homes, fire
officials said on Sunday.

May 8 (Reuters) - Cogeneration power plants in the fire-ravaged Canadian oil town of Fort McMurray,
Alberta, were operating at about 23 percent of capacity by Sunday afternoon, up from around 18 percent
earlier in the day, as demand for power rose in the region even as a wildfire forced oil sands
producers there to shut their operations.
BEIJING, May 8 (Reuters) - Chinese soybean imports surged 33
percent higher in April from a year ago, setting a monthly
record, amid strong demand for soymeal and soyoil. Iron ore
imports also climbed last month on a recovery in steel
production in the second quarter.
BEIJING, May 8 (Reuters) - China's imports of crude oil rose
7.6 percent in April from a year ago, customs data showed on
Sunday, lifted by continued strong demand from domestic private
refiners.

the harbour of Mozambique's capital were meant to be a modern
tuna fleet that would rake in hard currency, create jobs and
provide a cheap source of protein for one of the world's poorest
countries.
NEW YORK, May 6 (Reuters) - BP PLC said on Friday it
would not be able to deliver on some contracts for Canadian
crude due to a wildfire that has cut Canada's oil sands output
in half and snarled supply lines.
