Renewables energy experts have gathered in South Australia to defend the use of solar and wind power in the aftermath of a state-wide blackout.

First Solar, Inc. has commissioned the 52.5-MW AC Shams Ma’an solar power project in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

BHP Billiton Ltd., which forecasts wind and solar energy can achieve price parity with rival sources within a decade, is partnering in a battery-storage project to test technology that could be adopted at its remote sites.

In Canada, the worldwide aviation industry has applauded a crucial climate agreement reached by governments meeting at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The negotiations, to put in place the world’s first carbon offsetting scheme for any global sector, have had the backing of the aviation industry, which first proposed the measure in 2009.

LONDON, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Commodities trading house
Trafigura aims to expand its oil trading business further to
rival that of top trader Vitol in the next few years and
believes rising barriers to entry into the sector will squeeze
out potential newcomers.

The airline industry’s plan to ease its impact on global warming hinges on fuels made from vegetable oil, corn and household garbage. The hitch: nobody has ever been able to produce the stuff in the volumes needed.

LONDON, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Trading house Vitol believes
physical oil assets in the United States may have become a bit
too pricey, potentially cooling appetite for them among trading
houses that once viewed the U.S. oil industry as a prime
acquisition target.

LONDON, Oct 10 (Reuters) - The oil market may see supply and
demand rebalance if OPEC and Russia deliver a meaningful enough
production cut, but it will still take until the second half of
2017, Vitol chief executive Ian Taylor said on
Monday.

ISTANBUL, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Work on the TurkStream natural
gas pipeline project is continuing and and development of the
second stage of the project will depend on natural gas market
conditions in Europe, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday.

ISTANBUL, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Russia is ready to join a
proposed cap on oil output by OPEC members, Russian President
Vladimir Putin told an energy congress on Monday.
