PARIS, Oct 20 (Reuters) - French utility EDF has
postponed the restart of its 900 MW Gravelines 2, and the 900 MW
Dampierre 3 nuclear reactors to Nov. 15 from later October, an
update on grid operator RTE's website showed on Thursday.
Champagne and strawberries, chocolate and peanut butter, geothermal and solar energy — some things just go nicely together. Enel Green Power North America’s Stillwater plant, outside the desert town of Fallon, Nevada, came online in 2009 as a conventional geothermal plant and later added solar panels. After adding concentrating solar power in 2015, it became the world’s first triple hybrid renewable energy plant.
This was supposed to be solar’s moment. Residential panel installations in the U.S. grew 71 percent in 2015 as the falling cost of panels made the power they generate more competitive. In December, Congress unexpectedly extended a tax credit set to expire at the end of 2016. Panel buyers will get reimbursed for 30 percent of the cost of new solar panels through 2019 and at least 22 percent through 2021.
