UPDATE 1-Investment firm chairman Fayez Sarofim to pay to settle antitrust violations

WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Fayez Sarofim, a billionaire
darling of Houston high society known for running a Texas
investment company, has agreed to pay a $720,000 civil penalty
for failing to report the purchase of voting securities of
Kinder Morgan and Kemper Corporation, the Federal Trade
Commission said on Friday.

promised nuclear reactor decommissioning, effectively putting on

BRUSSELS, Oct 28 (Reuters) - The European Union has lifted a
cap on Gazprom's use of the Opal pipeline in Germany
which takes gas from its Nord Stream Baltic Sea pipeline to
end-users in Germany and the Czech Republic, opening the way for
Russia to expand Nord Stream's capacity and bypass Ukraine as a
gas transit route.

MEXICO CITY, Oct 28 (Reuters) - Mexico's state-run oil
company Pemex reported a narrower 118.36 billion peso ($6.1
billion) third-quarter net loss on Friday, even as it continues

Oct 28 (Reuters) - Imperial Oil Ltd, Canada's No. 2
integrated oil producer and refiner, reported a
better-than-expected quarterly profit as the company's
aggressive cost-cutting measures helped cushion the impact of
lower oil prices.
