UPDATE 1-U.S. drillers add the most oil rigs since July 2015 - Baker Hughes

Dec 9 (Reuters) - U.S. energy companies this week added the
most oil rigs since July 2015, extending the seven-month
drilling recovery as crude prices rose to a near 17-month high.
Drillers added 21 oil rigs in the week to Dec. 9, bringing
the total count up to 498, the most since January, but still
below the 524 rigs seen a year ago, energy services firm Baker
Hughes Inc said on Friday.

Biden does not see Trump undoing much of environmental record

the Interior, sources briefed on the matter told Reuters on
Friday.

Peace deal will help Colombia battle cocaine, president says

OSLO, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Colombia's peace deal with Marxist
rebels will help the country battle the cocaine trade, President
Juan Manuel Santos said on the eve of collecting a Nobel Peace
Prize that he called a "gift from heaven".

Amazonian tribe in Peru says it will block new oil drilling plans

LIMA, Dec 9 (Reuters) - An indigenous federation opposed to
a recently approved plan for oil drilling in the Peruvian Amazon
said on Friday that native communities will physically block any
attempt by oil companies to operate on their lands.

MOSCOW, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Carter Page, a businessman
previously described as a foreign-policy adviser to U.S.
President-elect Donald Trump, said on Friday he saw significant
business opportunities in Russia.

CANADA STOCKS-TSX eyes 1.8 pct gain on week as banks, energy shares rise

TORONTO, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index
extended a 19-month high on Friday and was heading for a 1.8
percent jump over the week as heavyweight energy and bank stocks
gained with rising oil prices and bond yields.
