(Tue, 13 Dec 2016) On November 23, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued its final rule for the 2017 Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program year, with higher targets than those initially proposed in May. EPA increased both the advanced biofuels and total renewable fuel targets while keeping the cellulosic biofuel and biomass-based diesel targets unchanged.

Dec 12 (Reuters) - U.S. driller Patterson-UTI Energy Inc
said on Monday it would buy its smaller counterpart
Seventy Seven Energy Inc in an all-stock deal worth
$1.76 billion including debt.

MEXICO CITY, Dec 12 (Reuters) - China and Mexico pledged on
Monday to deepen ties at a meeting between their top diplomats
following last month's U.S. presidential election victory of

BEIJING, Dec 13 (Reuters) - China's coal output fell
unexpectedly last month, data showed on Tuesday, the strongest
sign yet that miners are struggling to comply with government
orders to crank out more supplies for the power sector to avert
a winter energy crisis.

SAO PAULO, Dec 12 (Reuters) - Brazil's Federal Police asked
prosecutors to charge former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
for more crimes in the country's widest-ever corruption probe,
Globo's G1 news site reported on Monday.

BEIJING, Dec 13 (Reuters) - China's refinery throughput hit
a daily record in November thanks to growing production from the
country's independent refineries, while crude oil production
fell as oil producers maintained cuts at inefficient wells.

SINGAPORE, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Oil prices were firm on
Tuesday as the first signs of a crude production cut organised
by OPEC and other exporters materialised, tightening a market
that has been grappling with ballooning oversupply for over two
years.
